•    Find your agent. This is your time to hook up with the perfect agent.  Collectively, our agents represent virtually every genre.

•    Meet your publisher. Our publishing faculty represents every aspect of publishing, from traditional to self-, from hardcover to e-, and plenty in-between. One of them may be waiting for your manuscript.

•    Find a Specialist. Our Specialist Faculty will give you a professional critique of your fiction, nonfiction, poetry and juvenile manuscripts. You can also sign up for a professional edit or learning how to pitch.

•    Connect with a mentor. Our faculty has expertise in a wide range of issues, from how to use social media to how to self-edit your manuscript.

•    Network.  Every meal, every break, and every reception is a business meeting. FWA is all about Writers Helping Writers, and sometimes we get the most help from our friends—old and new.

•    Let FWA brag about you. If you’re a sponsor, exhibitor, or donor for our conference, we’ll let folks know—on our website and in our conference program.

•    Become an award-winning author.  At the RPLA Banquet Saturday night at the conference, you’ll find out who won the 2012 Royal Palm Literary Award competition (RPLA). The 2012 RPLA is now closed for submissions, but details for 2013 will be posted early next year. During the conference, you’ll also learn about FWA’s other competition: the Collection. See what’s up for Collection #5.

•    Sell your book at the conference. Sell your book in the conference bookstore and reserve time for a book signing. Contact ConferenceBookstore@FloridaWriters.net to sell your book and contact ConferenceAuthorBooksignings@FloridaWriters.net to arrange for a signing.

•    Workshops. Get the scoop on the industry. Our workshops cover a wide range of writing and publishing issues in virtually all genres and levels.

•    Keynote. Our 2012 keynoter Julie Compton will talk about many things that excite and concern today’s writers: “Publishing in the 21st Century: A Brave New World.”

Writers Helping Writers

When FWA was founded in 2001, our motto was—as it remains—“Writers Helping Writers.” Before, during, and after your FWA annual conference experience, we encourage you to tweet, blog, submit photos, write an article for The Florida Writer—in short, communicate to your fellow writers what you took away from the event. Pay it forward and we guarantee, you’ll reap the rewards.
Our 10th anniversary FWA conference was the biggest and best yet,
with a record attendance of more than 440.  See you at the 11th annual FWA conference 2012, The Magic of the Pen!

Who said getting the best educational value in your writing career had to be serious all the time? Sure, the schedule is full, but there’s still time before and after sessions to get to know your fellow attendees. Take full advantage of the explorations, talking, asking, sharing the wealth, and having fun!
